About Troop 1970
Mision & Values
Troop 1970 has been serving the youth of the Reston area for over 50 years and has been continuously sponsored by the United Christian Parish. In those years, Troop 1970 has been “Keeping the Tradition” of a scouting program with an emphasis on a "scout-led" Troop.
Through monthly outings, annual summer camp, and community service, the scouts of Troop 1970 build Scouting skills and create friendships for a lifetime. Scouts learn leadership skills through planning meetings, conducting outings, and training other troop members.
The Troop is proud to offer activities and service projects that benefit the community and are much anticipated, like the annual pancake dinner and our annual mulch fundraiser, selling and delivering mulch to homes in Reston and Herndon.
Whether camping out in Annapolis at the Naval Academy, helping with the Reston Triathlon, adopting a local highway, or excelling in the wilderness survival campout, these boys stay active while having a great time. In the 50 years plus, over 110 scouts have achieved the rank of Eagle and hundreds of youth have learned citizenship, outdoor, and leadership skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.
